Conservatories - Frequently Asked Questions:

1.) Do you manufacture your own conservatories, or do you buy in from an external fabricator?

Stevenswood Conservatories have their own 13,500 sq ft, state of the art factory in Houstoun Industrial Estate in Livingston where we manufacture all of our conservatories; frames, doors and importantly our roofs for our conservatories. In 2005 we invested over £500,000 in new CNC machinery to ensure the highest quality and tightest tolerances in our conservatories.

2.) Does your conservatory roof match your conservatory frames?

YES. Unusually in conservatories, our frame, ringbeam and roof extrusions are produced by the same company. This means that not only is the PVC exactly the same shape, it is also the exact same colour and sheen. We fabricate these extrusions into the exact shape and size of conservatory you require. When you buy a Stevenswood Conservatories conservatory you actually get a conservatory!

3.) Can we visit your factory?

Of course. You can visit our factory at any time by arrangement. You can see the manufacturing process before choosing Stevenswood Conservatories, or you can actually see your own conservatory being made.

4.) Can you build us a combined solid roof (for kitchen) and glass roof conservatory?

Yes. See below.

5.) Do you offer a ten year guarantee?

Yes, and Stevenswood Conservatories have actually been around for 10 years to service these guarantees for over 700 customers!

6.) Do you offer glass roofs?

Yes. Although they are a bit more expensive, with the new technology available for roof glass they are now actually a very good idea. The latest glass can have very high insulation whilst reflecting heat and can also have a self cleaning coating built in.

7.) Do you offer woodgrain PVC?

Yes, we offer white, mahogany, rosewood and light oak finishes. We also offer all of the preceding with white inside. By special order we also offer woodgrain inside and white outside!

8.) Do I need planning permission and a building warrant?

In Scotland, any conservatory over 8m2 has to have a building warrant. (Most conservatories tend to be larger than this).

Planning permission depends on your area, where on the house your conservatory is going and whether you have done any extensions before. It may well fall within permitted development. Around 30% of our installations require planning permission. Stevenswood Conservatories take care of planning and building warrants for you.
